McCormick Place

Project Description

The Hill Group did the piping and refrigeration work associated with this facility to provide energy and services to the entire McCormick Place Complex.

The project included installing three Trigen natural gas turbine and/or electric motor generator driven 2,200 ton ammonia refrigerant screw compressor packages, an 80,000 pound per hour gas fired high pressure steam water tube boiler, a second 80,000 pound per hour boiler fired by waste heat from the turbine or gas, 14 larger pumps, 18 evaporative condensers, all ammonia refrigeration piping, piping to the glycol thermal storage tank, steam and chilled water piping to the three exhibition halls and to the hotel. The Hill Group was responsible for piping details, routing, coordination and all mechanical drawings.
